Information for Refugees from Ukraine

The municipalty of Rheden is helping to host refugees from Ukraine. Rheden has 3 municipal shelters that are accommodating people. Residents of Rheden have also taken in people from Ukraine privately. 

Registering in our municipality

Free interpreter service for refugees

Refugees with Ukrainian nationality can register in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) if they are (temporarily) staying in Rheden. To register, refugees can make an online appointment. A passport or other identity document is required for this purpose.

Applying for a Dutch Driver's License

Starting from August 1, 2024, Ukrainian refugees under the Temporary Protection Directive (residence permit 46) will be able to apply for Dutch driver's licenses. 

Please Note:

  • Ukrainian driver's licenses cannot be exchanged for Dutch ones.
  • Applicants must pass the Dutch theory and practical exams to obtain a Dutch driver's license.
  • It is possible to exchange licenses from EU or EEA countries.
  • If you qualify under the 30% ruling, other foreign licenses may also be exchanged.
